That is so cool! Thanks for posting that Casey. I wonder what they were actually trying to communicate, but it is neat to see how communication can happen in so many different ways!
adorable. i personally think they are imitating adults and i'm not totally convinced they were actually understanding each other. it did seem that they were both trying to communicate something.. and something was definitely funny to the twin on the right.. I wonder how much of this could indicate some personality traits in their futures. like the way the one of the left was holding up his hand like decreeing something to the camera man.... neat to think about. thanks, casey!
I also liked how there was inflection in the voices, almost like a question was being asked. Such a cute video on how people communicate even when there isn't language. Kids, twins especially, are interesting with their language.
Listening to these two babies I hear a few points. Although it sounds like babbling, I hear pitch, turn taking, directing and receptive response. I feel they have observed possibly adult conversations and are imitating the structure as best that they can.I could be wrong but this is my opinion.
I saw this video on Good Morning America. They had a specialist on and she said the babies were talking about how one of their socks are missing. It's funny to watch the video knowing that piece because it really does look like they are talking about the missing sock!
I loved this! I just think it is too cute! But I do agree with the comment about how they are imitating adults, but I do think they understand each other to a certain degree. I'm not a specialist, but with the turn taking, and inflection and such that others have mentioned in their comments I would guess that there was some communication going on. (Also, I just couldn't help but just die laughing when the one twin starts to giggle! It was too cute!)
This was just too cute. It was neat to see how these babies interacted with each other without actual words. It was cool to read the comment about what the specialist said the babies were trying to communicate with each other. After I read that, I thought back to how the babies interacted with each other and the one without the sock did keep lifting his foot up a lot during their little conversation. It was funny.
This was so cute. I when i was watching it looked to me like they were talking about his sock , then i read the comment about good morning america. This is interesting but mainly its really cute.
I've seen this on TV a lot lately!! I think it is so cute with the babies and it makes me wonder if they are really communicating with each other, or if they are just babbling. It seems to me that they understand each other a little bit. I think it's very cute!
I think this is super cute but like some earlier posters, I'm not sure they were actually communicating. It does seem as if they are just doing what they see adults do or making sounds they know the other likes. Either way, super cute!
I definitely think these two were communicating. Obviously not with words we understand, but just like Josh and his brother created a language that they used to understand, who's to say these children aren't doing the same thing? (I'm not saying anyone who disagrees is wrong, just another viewpoint) =] Either way, it's presh!
I had not watched that until I heard about it in class! That is too cute! It shows there are many ways to communicate! I love it! My boyfriend and I immediately started laughing!
I had watched this video before but I crack up every time I watch it. These babies are hilarious and it makes you think they are actually having a conversation and understanding each other. Haha!
Here's a VERSION of the dialogue my friend does for this video.
Baby 1 listen up little brother Baby 2 back up off me big boy Baby 1 Dont make me go Bruce Lee on you Baby 2 Relax and back up off me dude Baby 1 you wanna go play in the freezer Baby 2 OK big head you go 1st Baby 1 I’m not trying to hear that runt Baby 2 Talk to my hand chubby Baby 1 I bow down to my small twin brother Baby 2 I’m glad you recognize - Peace
Ive had to have seen this video a million times and sometimes by force. lol. What I really enjoy about this video is relationship. Its amazing to have someone who speaks your language and you speak theirs and you can laugh and enjoy life together. So cute and so deep.
okay not only is this like the cutest thing ever, its also very interesting how two babies who have no formal language can cary on an entire conversation together. it's also really interesting to see the unbreakable bond between these two boys!
One word. ADORABLE. And its great to see how they already understand some of the rules of language. I will always be fascinated with the bond of twins. Again, cute!
This is funny to see these kids talking what seems to be gibberish to us. But they seem to understand each other perfectly. These kid must be related to me because they seem to love to talk.

ReplyDeleteAbsolutely precious video. I wonder how often all babies, even if they're not twins, have these sorts of conversations.
ReplyDeleteThis was INCREDIBLE!

ReplyDeleteI think this is too cute, but I think that they are just using babbling or jargon and copying or imitating what the other is doing.

It's is hilarious that children learn turn taking in conversations so early. I can imagine that many twins talk and babble with each other frequently.

ReplyDeleteThis is absoluetly precious.. They are surley understanding their language because of the turn taking and reponses such as laughter and getures.
ReplyDeleteTheir body language speaks for them most of the time, with head tilts, hand movements, etc. conveying agreement or disagreement.
It is beautiful to be able to recongnize language in all of its forms. =)
