DEAF TRUTH: For Hearing Parents with Deaf Child(ren)


I thought this would be an interesting video to share, since we have recently covered the topic of Deaf children and Hearing parents. This perspective is from a guy who has hearing parents. Very interesting and great point of view! Hope you enjoy!

    I think this is really impactful because when the hearing parents out there have deaf children, they need to research and gather information on what to do with their child.
    This video really shares also what they can expect from their deaf child. As we discussed in class, many parents lose all of their hopes and dreams in their child because they are deaf. This man really shows how the deaf can be successful and give hearing parents a new outlook on the future life of their deaf child.

    I think this video is helpful. Not only for us to see different situations but for a parent to see if they don't know where to go to find out more information. The guy seemed very honest and he stayed impartial for the most part. Any information to help hearing parents with deaf children is helpful!!

    This video was definitely interesting. One question, and I'm sure it's really not that important, but why was he signing so slowly? Was this simply a Q&A video so he wanted students or sign language learners to be able to follow along, or what? Because when he first started signing, I didn't think he was Deaf, at all.
