Has anyone seen the show Jericho? It was on a while back. It had Shoshannah Stern in it. I LOVE this girl! She's amazing! She was also in the show Lie to Me.
I have seen these previews and I wish this show would come be aired on t.v. I think that this would give many people a better insight into the Deaf community and culture. It would be a really good educational tool. This would also show how Deaf and Hearing world can work together. This would also give people a chance to learn something new that they might not have been aware of before. I would really love for this show to be on t.v. Hope it happens. :)
Wow. This clip was very insightful in just the few minutes captured of the show, so I wonder, like Danielle, whether it will air. Surelly, it should. I liked the part where the mother said she used to tell hearing people that she couldn't hear and then she changed it to she can sign. I also liked the cheerleading clip, simply becasue i would have wondered how deaf cheerleading occured. The statement in the end was what caught my attention most and distraught me a litte." Hearing people make decisions for us all the time and we suffer in a way." I agree that i have a lot of questions toward the deaf culture, and that makes me ignorant in a way, and in hearing this statement, i can see where they are coming from. It is not the place of hearing people to decide for the hearing impaired, when the hearing do not know the ins and outs of the culture.
Marlee Matlin directed or produced this, if I'm correct? I would absolutely love if this aired. It just shows a different side to this world that people just don't know about. It wouldn't hurt to have a little more open mindedness in the world, am I right?
It's about time we got to see Deaf life on tv. This could be really positive for the Deaf community and hopefully open up the mind of the uninformed hearing people in this world. I really hope this airs!
I think that this will be a great show. Its only about time they create a TV show with a deaf family. This will be a good way for people to educate them selfs on deaf culture and perspectives. I am really interested in finding out how this show will display the deaf culture and family life. It will give people a chance to look behind the doors and see what living with a deaf family is like. This is really interesting and I cant wait to see how it turns out. Thanks for the post!

ReplyDeleteI watched the pilot episode of "My Deaf Family" in my ASL 225 class the other day and I thought it would be an interesting show to watch.
ReplyDeleteThis pilot has been out for a while now, but does anyone really know when it might actually air? I think it would have quite a following!
