Thanks for sharing that! That was a neat commercial, and even if they signed in spanish, it was neat to see how they were included in the making of the commercial!
I hadn't seen this one. It's really neat to see more sign being used on TV. I did see one commercial that had sign and was so tickled when it came on. It's a Kay Jewelers Christmas commercial. I don’t know how to post a video, so here’s the link….
It was on tv the other day and I mentioned it to my ASL teacher Nina and she said she had never seen it so it made me think that you guys probably hadn't noticed it either, so I thought I would share.
I have never seen this commercial before but I really like how McDonald's is the universal language. That was probably my favorite part... just sayin... Oh and the other languages were cool too...
This commercial made me want McDonalds really badly! I think this commercial is great and I love to see signing making it's way into mainstream media and exposing more people to sign and deafness.
Just to play devils advocate, because I love to do that. I wonder if this commercial made anyone who is uninformed and unaware about deafness confused about the universality of signing. I certainly know that ASL is not a universal language, but quite a few people think so. I cannot tell you how many times someone has asked me about ASL as a universal language.
I am curious as to whether or not there were people who that that McDonalds was making the connection that Sign Language and McDonalds are both universal languages. I mean, I think that this commercial could definitely be interpreted taht way. Not that I interpreted it that way, but I think that some could. What do you think???
Adi: When I saw it I kind of interpreted that it was saying sign language was a universal language and I thought that until last semester when I asked my teacher and she was like ummm...no lol. I was so confused haha, she clarified though by saying in different countries, counties etc they have there own unique sign. But I think like you said it was trying to say that no matter what language you spoke or didn't speak (signed) you loved some McDonald's lol.
This was a great video I saw it a couple of weeks ago and it make me think about sign language and how it is used throughout the world its really neat. I watched the video trying to follow along with their sign it was funny because even though its Spanish sign I found my self somewhat able to follow along. Since I am a Coda and being around sing my whole life I think it made it easier for me. But I did notice that at the end the girl said good food. Great post thanks for putting it up.
I remember the first time i saw this on tv, i thought it was really cool too. Thanks for sharing. I really love this commercial.
